Last night, at GQ’s Men of the Year 2025 party, god-tier Rolex collector Pusha T told me that he loves the Crown because every watch feels like “a trophy.” So, how do you celebrate a year in which you and your brother dropped one of the hottest albums, earned five Grammy nominations, and were named GQ’s Rappers of the Year? You do it by wearing two of the biggest trophies in the world, of course: a pair of all-gold, diamond-set, face-flooded Rolex Day-Dates.
Clipse’s Pusha T and Malice arrived at the MOTY party each rocking their own unique spin on the iconic Rolex watch. While the Swiss maker is best known for its tool watches—such as the Submariner, GMT-Master, and Daytona—the more classic-looking Day-Date has become as beloved as any of those sportier pieces, thanks in part to its staying power among the most powerful (and well-dressed) people in the world. The watch has been worn by multiple American presidents, including Lyndon Johnson and Gerald Ford, which helped it earn the nickname “The Presidential.”
If each Rolex is a trophy, as Pusha said, the rapper wore the equivalent of the Stanley Cup on his wrist. His Day-Date is made of platinum and wastes no opportunity to place precious jewels in every nook and cranny. The bezel is gem-set, the face is covered in diamonds, and the 6 and 9 o’clock indices are replaced with sapphires. All told, the watch retails for a smooth $90,600.
Malice’s Day-Date, meanwhile, flew slightly more under the radar—but only slightly. His full yellow-gold version of the watch features a champagne-colored dial and is also set with diamonds all around the bezel. This is a totally classic take on the model, which is at its most natural positively dripping in gold.
Clipse clearly knows how to synchronize, whether they’re going verse for verse on a track or finding two distinct versions of the same iconic watch to play off one another. There were a ton of great watches at last night’s MOTY 2025 red carpet, but it’s hard to beat a duo engaging in horological warfare that’s this well coordinated.
