Hi, I'm Will Arnett.
Hi, I'm Bradley Cooper.
And this is the friendship quiz...
By GQ.
Hi, I'm Will Arnett.
I'm Bradley Cooper.
And this is the GQ friendship quiz part one.
In case you wanna make it a series.
We're gonna flip a coin.
So I'll flip, you call. Okay.
In the air.
Okay?
Yeah.
This is called the coin.
Heads.
Tails.
I dropped it. You got it.
No, that was it.
That worked.
I'm really nervous.
I wanna win so bad.
Okay, here we go.
Heads.
Heads it is.
Ooh.
All right, I'll go first.
What did I think of you when we first met?
I think you probably thought I was a nice guy.
Yep.
How many points do I get?
Oh, how many can I give?
[Producer] As many as you want.
Half a point.
[both laughing]
[Producer] Why?
Well, don't I wanna win?
That's pretty tough.
I didn't know we could slice it like that.
No, let's do five.
Okay, five.
Great, thank you.
What's my star sign?
You're a Capricorn.
Correct.
Five.
Let's do five as like the right,
so then we can play evenly. Okay.
Copy that. Yeah.
When is my birthday?
I hope you're not asking me those questions.
It's January 5th.
Correct.
What is my worst habit?
Um...
[Bradley laughing]
Does this give the answer there?
No, there's no...
Your worst habit.
Zyn.
Correct.
What was my first job?
You can't know that.
Yeah, how would you know that?
The backpacking show, where you...
I mean, I wanna say yes 'cause that's a good answer.
But my first job was, like,
was busboy at Alexander's Chicken Town.
Oh, job-job.
I thought we were talking about showbiz.
Oh, I don't know.
It just says job.
It's job-job.
Oh, okay.
Well, let me admit...
I think that I get a mully on that.
Yeah, for sure.
It was a busboy at Alexander's.
Amazing.
Five points.
Remember to be generous.
Describe what you think I was like as a child.
I think that you were curious.
Probably cautious and quiet, but optimistic.
Yeah.
Five.
[Producer] What were you like as a kid, Will?
I was, you know, irreverent and witty,
yet kind and gentle.
I had a Midas touch and yet-
Confident but humble.
I was a person of the people.
I was very humble.
That was the word.
No.
I don't know, I was kind of a pain in the ass, I think.
I didn't really have like any one friend group.
I wasn't like a nerd or a cool guy.
I wasn't a jock.
Oh, we were similar in that way.
Yeah, it just was kind of...
I was a utility player.
That's why everybody described me as a tool.
That makes sense now.
Who would make me starstruck?
Pat McAfee.
[Bradley laughing]
I just met him.
Oh, he just texted him back.
He met him, all that stuff and he was just-
I was at Chris Henchy's house in the morning,
having coffee.
'Cause we would always do that in the morning.
And then I'd see on my phone, it says, Pat McAfee calling.
So I must have got his number.
And then it was a FaceTime and then I opened it
and he's with all his guys and I was...
And they started singing Shallow.
And then I looked like a little boy who just met Elvis.
That's sweet.
Yeah, he's a cool guy.
That's really sweet.
What's something people don't know about me?
Well, there are a lot of things that people don't...
What's funny is how much people think they know about you.
Right.
That's bananas.
That's so bananas.
And there's so much they don't know.
What an unbelievably dedicated dad you are.
Everything else is such a distant second.
Oh, thanks man.
Yep. Yeah.
What is my most embarrassing moment?
Well, it just happened.
[both laughing]
Oh...
Yeah, when you walked into the screen door,
which is crazy 'cause he walked into a post 20 years ago
and hit his nose in the same spot.
Yeah, same spot.
I was shooting a commercial Monday night
and I was watching the Eagles game on my phone.
And then they're like, Bradley, you gotta come.
And I was like, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I walk and I walked right into the screen door
and then I kept going and I pretended it didn't happen.
And I walk right...
And it was right by closeup and the guy I'm acting with,
he's like, we're starting to do it,
and the camera's right here and the guy's like,
I think I think your nose is bleeding.
And I was like, Yeah, it's fine, it's fine.
And we did the whole thing my nose just bleeding.
By the way, I sent you a picture of Archie
and his buddies at the game.
Nothing.
I did, I wrote back.
Did you? Yeah.
That's possible.
I couldn't see through the blood, so it took a second.
So yeah, most embarrassing moment.
Five points.
[Will] Yeah.
What is the craziest thing I've done
to prepare for a role?
I mean, I don't know crazy.
When you were preparing...
I remember you were getting ready for Sniper,
American Sniper.
You gained a lot of weight.
I did.
You got really big, you got really muscular and big.
Maestro.
All the sort of...
The pianos, all the music stuff that you did.
Oh my God, A Star Is Born and the guitar
and teaching yourself how to do all that stuff.
I mean, that's pretty intense stuff.
I would never do that.
[Bradley] Mm.
I don't have the dedication, I don't think.
That's not true.
What is my favorite thing to do in New York?
Your favorite thing to do in New York...
Probably go to Danny & Coop's.
It's a great steak sandwich shop in Tompkins Square.
What's the address?
I don't know, 151 Avenue A.
Okay, that's it. Yeah.
Five points.
That's gotta be 15 points.
I just promoted your business.
Wait, but aren't we saying-
We are but your business just...
But aren't we saying that's the top?
So it's like a thousand points, but it's all relative.
What's my favorite thing to cook?
We should have saved it for that.
I know, but I didn't know it was coming up.
Steak sandwich.
How did our relationship change after working together?
For the better.
All right, five.
What is the key to a 20 year friendship?
Brutal honesty.
Mm.
What's the movie I've seen the most times?
Do you know what it is?
Off the top of your head?
I don't.
I don't know.
I could say kinda like any class...
I don't know.
I don't know.
Okay. What is it?
I don't know either.
It could be like Apocalypse Now or Elephant Man, or...
I don't know.
Yeah.
God, you've seen so many.
I know what yours is.
Can I say it?
I think it...
I can give you a point that we can bank for later.
Oh.
What's my favorite film?
Withnail and I.
Yeah.
So you know what?
10 points.
Ah, don't worry about it.
Without looking at your phone,
what does my last text say to you?
Hmm.
It was about the screening of the PGA.
Oh yeah, it was at...
Right.
It was after that.
Right, you're right.
There's a really good chance that it's how we livin'?
[both laughing]
Am I right?
There's a good chance.
But I'm pretty sure it was like,
Do you believe what happened?
Like, we were so grateful.
Yes, it was.
Yeah.
So I was right about that.
Yeah, I'm gonna give you five.
Okay, thanks. Yeah.
Who's an actor I'd love to work with that I haven't yet?
Oh, you know the answer to that.
Sean.
Oh.
I mean, yeah.
'Cause we were in the same movie
but we didn't get to act together.
Yeah.
I think it's five points. Okay.
[Producer] Who were you going to say?
Daniel Day Lewis.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Here we go.
What's my middle name?
Emerson.
Fuck.
Five.
What was the moment you realized
we were gonna be best friends?
Mm.
Best friends is quite a thing.
Yeah.
Good friends.
Okay.
Well 'cause you can't categorize-
Yeah best friend's such a weird thing.
Well, it is because it excludes other people.
I know, I know.
I mean-
I take the issue with that too.
In 2000.
Straight away.
Oh, sorry, 2003.
Yeah.
Yeah, five points.
We ended up living together like in the same building.
Yeah, he helped me get sober.
That's what I was thinking about.
Well, that too, yeah.
I wasn't gonna say that,
but yeah. Yeah.
Well, you did.
No, but you led the way.
Yeah.
What are my siblings' names?
Charlie is your...
You have three siblings.
Yeah.
You have two sisters and a brother.
Yeah.
Brother's Chuck. Yeah.
Charlie.
I don't know what your sister's names are.
And the crazy thing is, neither do you.
That's why I'm giving you five points.
They must have names.
Yeah, it's like Beth...
Beth and Claire.
Probably.
Yeah.
Kidding, he loves his sisters.
Of course, I love my sisters.
Tannis and Shanly.
They're very unusual names,
so they're hard, too, for people to...
But they're great people, I've been told.
What's my biggest pet peeve?
It's gonna be tough, 'cause they're-
I was gonna say like, do we have all day?
I mean, know-it-alls.
Know-it-alls.
Yeah. Yeah.
Why?
Because...
You are one.
Yeah, five.
[both laughing]
What was my first car?
Oh, I have no idea.
How would you know?
Vol...
I don't, Vol...
You couldn't imagine that my first car was a Rolls.
Zero.
My first car that I owned
was a real beat up old Volvo station.
I said Volvo.
Did you say Volvo?
Yeah, I just said it.
It's on tape, I just said it.
Let's go back.
Oh, I have no idea.
How would you know?
A Volvo?
I don't know.
Volvo, I don't know.
You were right. I definitely said Volvo.
Yeah.
Are you serious?
Serious, swear to God.
Wow, that's crazy.
Bro.
Five. That's pretty dope.
Fiveski.
What's my proudest moment?
For sure your children.
My proudest moment.
Like having your children. Sorry, I'm just kidding.
Yeah, of course.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Five.
When I was younger, what did I want to be when I grew up?
Oh, a hockey player.
I did.
Yeah. Yeah.
Five.
What was my big break?
Arrested Development.
Five.
What's the best prank I've pulled on you?
On me?
You're not a prankster.
I'm not. No.
Five. That was a trick question.
Yeah.
What is my hidden talent?
Air guitar.
Five.
Because we both share that love.
And he does an insane Night Court.
Law & Order. Law & Order
But I thought you also did Night Court.
I can.
I think that when you live together, you know,
you get to see all different sides of each other.
And I'm sure I was like doing Down by the River in my room
and he was doing in Law & Order.
Yeah.
Just break it out, you know,
while you're eating or just...
It just happens.
No, but we were very proud that...
That's like a hidden talent that we don't mind sharing
and he was very confident about...
[Will imitating guitar]
What's the most Canadian thing about me?
Crap.
Well, I mean, certainly your love of Toronto.
That takes a Canadian to feel that way.
Wow.
Well, you got a whole city against you.
No, no, I'm just saying like, your pride.
Your Toronto pride.
I am very proud about being Canadian.
Five points.
What was my best subject in school?
I'm gonna say...
I'm sure geography wasn't the subject-
Yes!
Capital of Pennsylvania.
Harrisburg.
Yeah.
Was that on there or you just-
No.
I just wanted to show you off. Oh that's all right.
You're my show pony.
Okay.
What's my favorite story from the set-
What's a country...
Of Is This Thing On?
What's your favorite story?
Yeah.
We don't have a lot of like set stories.
Yeah, yeah.
It's like one big thing.
Mm.
I'm gonna say you don't have a favorite.
Five points.
There was no separation, quite honestly.
It's like the minute we would leave set
we were just talking about the next day
or what happened that day or where we gotta go
and what we need to explore.
It just felt like 33 days...
Really not even then, even before.
And there also wasn't like messing around.
Yeah, there was no downtime.
We were just in it.
The one sort of bit that we had for a while,
especially that first week when we were doing the standup,
was with Bob.
We were doing the no bullshit thing.
Yeah.
Can't be any bullshit.
We don't want any bullshit in this.
And then the premier of the movie.
And then the premier of the movie is,
Bradley's like, Let's get rid of all the bullshit.
And the sound is bullshit.
And the way this looks is bull.
You watch the scene, it's bullshit.
And you go to the premiere
and it's just a black screen with no sound.
And he is like, Look, no bullshit.
It's just two hours of a black screen.
He's like, right?
Right. Right.
I'm like, Dude, Bradley's got insane.
No, no, guys, guys, guys.
[Will] Look at it.
Guys, look.
No bullshit. We did.
We did it.
We did it.
What's my guilty pleasure show or movie?
Guilty pleasure.
Oh...
Show or movie.
Is there one?
Do you really feel like there is?
Other than porn?
Yeah.
There's nothing.
I feel really guilty... I mean, you watch soccer...
And that's it.
I'm unabashed about it, yeah.
Five.
Yeah, I don't watch a lot of...
No.
Like you have a guilty pleasure, which I know.
I wouldn't say it's guilty, I'm pretty open about it.
Yeah. What is it?
Love Island.
I mean, but I haven't watched it since season 11.
But I do love...
Yeah I haven't...
And also, breaking news, also you watching it,
it made you quite emotional.
I did cry.
I mean, people are going through shit.
And matter of fact, I was walking down the street
with my daughter the other day,
and a guy walked by and he looked kind of familiar
and I was like, huh.
And then he stops.
He's like, Hey man, can I take a photo?
And I'm looking at him and I'm like, Love Island?
And he's like, Yeah.
It's Casey from Love Island.
Do you remember, he won? Not Casey.
It wasn't Casey the Islander.
And then he came back for Love Island,
you know, like...
I don't know, if it was the game.
They did like a...
[Producer] The All Stars?
Yes.
But I, yeah, love that.
Omar, was it Omar too?
[Producer] We'll have to talk more about this later.
Yeah, yeah. Wow.
Yeah, well I could do a deep dive on Love Island.
Watch Love Island Australia?
Did you watch that one? Oh yeah.
It's pretty amazing.
Oh my god, what kind of fucking...
What kind of time do you guys have on your hands?
They did a podcast that I watched after that.
I gotta go.
Oh yeah, I gotta go.
I do have to go.
I have to go do a podcast in 15 minutes.
Oh yeah.
I have to go here for...
What's a role I want but didn't get?
Don't say Joey Essex from Island Love.
I don't know, everything we audition for.
Yep, five.
Describe my ideal day off.
Oh, sitting on your couch watching soccer.
Five points.
I think we tied.
I gave, you got extra
'cause I gave you 10 points. Thanks bro.
Preesh, preesh.
I learned what his sisters' names are that I just forgot.
Look at that.
[Producer] Do you wanna try?
No, Tristan and Izelda.
[Will laughing]
Whoa, you almost got 'em.
It sounded similar.
What are they?
Tell me it's not the same thing.
Tannis and Shanley.
Yeah, that's exactly what I just said.
I think I got this many points.
And I got this many points.
Let's do like a graphic thing, that's cool.
And they're hitting each other.
Oh, like our points are funny.
Bradley won.
But only because of his benevolence.
I'm happy for you man. Well played sir.
Well done.
