We are just over 200 days out from kickoff of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. And this morning, the growing excitement is set to skyrocket, because Adidas just unveiled 22 home kits for nearly all the countries that rep the Three Stripes. (Jamaica is the lone holdout, with its uniforms set to be revealed as part of a standalone collection in early 2026.) Some of those nations—Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, and Japan chief among them—have already secured their spot in the field of 48 teams, while others are still clawing their way through qualifiers. Three of the teams (Chile, Peru, and Venezuela) have already been eliminated from the competition, but that didn’t stop Adidas from making them fresh kits.
As with all sports uniforms, there are hits, there are misses, and there are ones that put you to sleep. All of these jerseys might feature Adidas’s signature stripes along the shoulders, but not all of them are created equally, with some of the bigger nations receiving custom details and design flourishes not afforded to their smaller counterparts. In any case, your pals at GQ took the liberty of definitively ranking of all of the home kits Adidas has cheffed up for the biggest sporting event on the planet.
23. Hungary
There's really just not a lot going on here. Sorry to the Hungarians, but somebody had to be last.
22. Scotland
Navy blue and white is perhaps the least inspiring colorway there is, but the Scottish saltire design helps keep this out of the final spot on these rankings.
21. Chile
Chile was eliminated during qualification and will not be at the 2026 World Cup, but will wear this kit for their 2026 international season. It’s a perfectly fine kit.
20. Qatar
These are…basically an exact copy-and-paste of Hungary’s? The zigzag pattern down the middle is cool, though, and while it’s a minor thing, the white trim on the bottom of the sleeve really pops.
19. Peru
While some might find them boring, the thing about a white uniform—in any sport—is that it provides a blank canvas. Peru, another team that has already been eliminated, put a sash through the white kit that celebrates all three topographical conditions found in Peru (coastline, highlands, and rainforest). That’s fun!
18. Costa Rica
Sure, the tropical theme is nice when you’re up close. But when watching the Costa Rican team on TV, these will just look like standard red jerseys with white stripes.
17. Venezuela
Venezuela gets a small bump here purely because their colors are so unique. The team’s nickname, La Vinotinto, translates to “The Red Wine,” and you can see why. Unfortunately, like their fellow South American countries featured earlier on this list, Venezuela will not be part of the World Cup bracket.
16. United Arab Emirates
This part of the rankings is where, in my opinion, the kits really take a step up. Whenever uniforms are revealed, it’s always fascinating to see which teams opt for simplicity and which ones really go for it. The UAE falls closer to the simple side here, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
15. Sweden
Sweden’s yellow jerseys. You know ’em, you love ’em, they're back again. The only thing that’s missing here is a monstrous collar. Shouts to Freddy Ljungberg.
14. Belgium
The Red Devils know their lane, and they stick to it. Candy apple red, flame motifs, and black and yellow accents. Lather, rinse, repeat.
13. Wales
One of the few teams here to put the crest in the middle of the kit rather than the shoulder, Wales did a wonderful job with this design. Something about the stripe across the chest is nostalgia-inducing, too, which is a nice swerve from many of the countries that are shifting to a hypermodern aesthetic.
12. Italy
The Italians have backed themselves into a corner for all eternity with the team’s nickname, Gli Azzurri, which literally means “The Blues.” Still, even though we can basically close our eyes at this point and imagine what Italy's kits will look like, these still delivered. Like a cherished family recipe from the old country, there’s a certain comfort food quality to these.
11. Northern Ireland
Two different shades of green! Who else is doing that? The Northern Irish still have some work to do to qualify for the World Cup, but the release of this uniform should surely give them some extra juice.
10. Spain
The reigning European champions are bringing this gorgeous pinstripe getup to North America, where they’ll try to win their second World Cup title.
9. Ukraine
A funkier version of Sweden’s kit, but without the chunks of blue clogging up the shoulders. Ukraine will be looking good if they can escape the qualifiers to qualify for just their second World Cup ever.
8. Saudi Arabia
I mean, what’s not to like? Purple and dark green is undoubtedly a big swing, but it connected here, and the crest (the team is colloquially known as the Arabian Falcons) makes this a top-tier kit.
7. Germany
An homage to the 1990 team that won it all, the Germans will attempt to conjure the same magic in the 2026 tournament. This is also the federation’s swan song with homegrown Adidas before switching to Nike, signaling a big shift in the international soccer world.
6. Japan
Japan never fails to deliver a strong World Cup kit, on both the men’s and women’s side. Samurai blue forever.
5. Algeria
Red, green, and white will always hit. That’s just basic color theory.
4. Colombia
A sunny kit that’s always a sight for sore eyes, the Colombians are back with a vengeance after missing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
3. Jamaica
Yup, we’re sliding Jamaica into the top three sight unseen. Based on the island nation’s previous Wales Bonner-designed kits, as well as some rumors about the next Reggae Boyz collaborator Adidas has lined up, we feel very confident these are going to be straight fire.
2. Mexico
Holy moly, what a triumph this is. Hats off to everyone involved in this design, which is a gallant look fitting for one of the three host nations.
1. Argentina
