If Uniqlo and JW Anderson Are Back, Spring Must Be on the Horizon
No matter how much stock you put in groundhogs named Phil, spring is officially on the horizon when Uniqlo and Jonathan Anderson link up again. For close to a decade, the Japanese mega-retailer has enlisted the buzzy Irish designer—now comfortably established as the creative director of Christian Dior, FYI—to bring his signature Andersonisms to its shelves, for a quarter of what they’d cost anywhere else.
So yes, there’s a lot of snow on the ground across most of the country. And yes, there’s a serious threat of yet another bone-chilling gust of bad weather blowing our way soon. And yes, there’s no shortage of day-ruining headlines to ruminate on, but today, there’s also one bit of good news: Uniqlo and JW Anderson have indeed linked up again, and their latest effort makes last fall’s look like a mere teaser.
When we checked in with the pair then, it was mid-October and said effort was a hyper-focused 18-piece capsule of sick jackets, killer sweaters, and just-right trousers. Expansive, it was not. There are no real skips this time around, either, but about twice as many hits. Which makes sense, given that Uniqlo is one of the most beloved mass-market brands on the planet, and that Jonathan Anderson is, well, the creative director of Christian Dior.
We’re talking pants with the objectively correct amount of slouch, a quarter-zip that might redeem the category for good, a blazer so breathable we’re hesitant to even call it that, and a couple of elite light jackets to round out the pack—all destined to elevate your spring fits like Jordan taking off from the foul line. The only downside? The whole lot of it moves quickly, so if you like what you see, you should probably do the same. To make it easier on your end, we pulled together a list of favorites below, but head on over to Uniqlo to see it all yourself.
